The Book Sale is back!

Donation collections now!

The Friends plan to hold their annual book sale fundraiser in Fall 2024. Bring donations to the library during open hours. (Please don't leave them at the door when we're closed.)

  • As always, the Friends will accept items that are clean, odor-free, and in good condition.
  • We ask that you not donate textbooks, magazines, periodicals, VHS tapes, abridged editions, or items that smell of smoke or mildew
  • If you have a large amount of items, please talk to us to arrange a time for drop-off, so we don't overwhelm Circulation staff.

Upcoming meetings

Meetings are held in the library's Third Floor Meeting Room at 2pm. All are welcome.

2022 meeting schedule:

  • February 14
  • April 14
  • May 23
  • August 29
  • September 26
  • October 24
  • November 28

Who are we, and what do we do?

Since 1975 the Friends of the North Adams Public Library have helped establish a closer relationship between the library and the public by funding programs and materials not covered in the library budget. One of our major accomplishments was raising the funds to renovate the third floor which provided a meeting room space for public use, a conference room for small meetings, a kitchenette, staff room, literacy offices, and a Special Collection work room.

In 2020 the COVID-19 pandemic forced the Friends to cancel our two primary fundraising events, the membership drive and the book sale. In spite of this we did continue to fund requests from the staff for their virtual and no-contact activities for both the adult and youth departments.

We are holding the membership drive in spring of 2021. Please consider renewing your membership when you receive your letter. If you are not currently a member, please consider joining us to support NAPL’s excellent programming. You will find a link for the membership form below.

In 2020 the Friends approved over $10,000 in expenditures in support of the NAPL.

How can you help?

  • Our main source of income continues to be the annual membership drive and our annual book sale. Please support these if you can by either volunteering to help with the sale, donating baked goods, or purchasing books for your home library.
  • If you make purchases from Amazon, its Amazon Smile program is a particularly easy way to support the Friends.
  • The Friends gratefully accept memorial donations to honor loved ones.

The Friends are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting the North Adams Public Library. Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law. If you have questions or would like more information, please email Bonnie Rennell or call 413-664-6706. Thank you for your generous support!
